Constructed in 1740, Chorten Kora in Trashiyangtse is one of the few stupas in Bhutan built in Nepali architectural style and design. The site for the construction of Chorten Kora was chosen to subdue a local malevolent spirit that caused immense harm to people passing by including those from present day Arunachal Pradesh.
A festival known as Dakpa kora is held every year, around April where hundreds of pilgrims from nearby Arunachal Pradesh also partake in the festival in memory of the pious Dakini girl who sacrificed herself for the benefit of sentient beings during the construction of the chorten.
