Description : I was born in a small village in eastern Bhutan. My parents were a farmers, they grow maize, chilies and vegetables in their fields. They also reared some cows to give them butter and cheese. My mother gave birth to fourteen children but only three survived to call her mother today. I’m a youngest son. In those days, the village did not have safe drinking water or toilets and many parents lost their children to several preventable diseases. People kept blaming to all kinds of evil spirits for the deaths. In 1987government has started the first ever community school in my village, though my single mother did not pleased to send me to the school, she did not object strongly either. Mr. Neten Dorji, our headmaster and only teacher has to virtually force parents to send their children to school, some rich parents had to bribed the teachers to exempt their children from enrolment or have to be pretended deafness or blind for escaping, we were all bare feet walking back and forth to school then, such challenges have toughened my spirits and responsibilities today. After my high school, i attended various international guiding courses and continued as a tour guide and tour leader with zest over a span of 15 years and has recognized sense of duty and hard work.
