The COVID-19 hardest hit impact of tourism industry has not been felt as expected by the service providers primarily due to our farsighted leadership and Kidu support endowed to the much needed industry people by His Majesty, The King of Bhutan. We always remain ever grateful and indebted to such a noble cause.
The recent announcement made by the Ministry of Health (15th May 2022) is a wakeup call for the tourism industry people. The overall decline in number of symptomatic and severe cases of COVID-19 in the country is a positive news for the tourism industry. The tireless efforts of the government proved effective and progressive lifting of travel restrictions such as from 21 days quarantine to 14 days to 5 days is a splendid testimony and an achievement to be appreciated. We are hopeful that the 5 days quarantine may soon be removed as the industry players in particular tour operators view it as the impediment for tourism promotion.
