A tiny buddhist himalayan kingdom, with one of the most ecologically diverse natural environments in the world, Bhutan harbours some of the most iconic and endangered wildlife species in the world such as the majestic Bengal Tigers, the rare and elusive Snow Leopards, Golden Langurs, Asian Elephants, Red Panda and the Black Necked Crane.
While 70 percent of Bhutan is forested, more than half the country is marked as protected areas that are connected with a network of biological corridors. A total of 11,284 species of animals, plants, birds and insects have been recorded in Bhutan so far including many that are native or endemic to Bhutan.
