Set amidst the lush green and beautiful meadows of central Bhutan in Bumthang, Ura Yakchoe, the festival of thanksgiving is an archaic ritual festival with roots in animalistic tradition that has today evolved as a religious festival celebrating the life and works of Guru Padmasambhava. The five day festival consists of sacred mask dances, folk dances, a thongdrol (applique) display and a religious procession where villagers make rounds to local homes for food and ara.
Besides the festival, Ura in Bumthang is famed for its natural beauty and stunning landscapes
